Traffic Safety Request

Dear Mililani ‘Ike Families,

I am writing this letter asking for your support in keeping our students safe.  We received a report from a parent that our student was hit by a car while riding her bicycle to school.  Fortunately, the student was wearing a helmet and was not severely injured.

This is a HUGE reminder for all adults to implement safety procedures while driving and for us to remind our students of the importance of road safety.  As drivers, please drive slowly and abide all traffic laws around our school and in the neighborhood.  We will be reviewing pedestrian safety procedures with all of our students.  Students need to be aware of traffic and their surrounding while crossing the street either on foot or on a bicycle.  A video will be shared with the students and posted onto our school’s blog.  Please review the safety procedures at home.

We will continuing to work with Wahiawa Community Policing Team and ask for their support in monitoring the vehicle traffic and pedestrians around our school.  Please help us to spread the word to keep our students safe as they walk or ride their bicycles to school, from school, and around our neighborhood.

Your continued support, implementation of safe driving practices, and reminders to our students is much appreciated.  Together we will keep all students safe while enjoying their walk or ride to school.

Sincerely,
Lynne Ajifu
Principal
