For the second year, Mililani 'Ike Student Council and their families represented our school and participated in Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Principal Ajifu, Vice-Principal Tanita and Vice-Principal Wong also joined in for our morning of community service! Mililani Town Association partnered with HPD to organize the event which promoted safe driving. Our students made posters and waved enthusiastically to share this important message with our community.

Mililani 'Ike's Robotics Team

This weekend the 'Ike Robotics Team, Pueo Techtonics, competed in the First Lego League Qualifying Competition at Mililani High School.  They competed against nine (9) other elementary and middle schools.  The team demonstrated their knowledge through their presentation and robots' performance on the various tasks.  They are selected as an alternate for the State Competition.  Great job 'Ike Robotics!

Reading is Fun!

Thank you to our military partners, the 84th Engineering Battalion, who read to our students during their lunch periods.  The students enjoyed the stories of All Around the Islands, Stellaluna, and Seven Silly Eaters.  Thank you 84th Engineering Battalion!  The students had a wonderful time with the special event.

Safety Updates

Thank you to all of our families for the instant response to address our safety message.  Mililani 'Ike Elementary continues to work with the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) in investigating the situations involving the two vehicles who were taking pictures on our campus.  We submitted a request to HPD asking for more surveillance around our school as a precaution.

Our teachers are leading discussions with the students in the classrooms on general safety precautions and what to do when approached by strangers.  Please continue to speak to your child at home.  Safety is an ongoing area where children require reminders and instruction.

We are also looking to create a parent watch group.  It would constitute parents volunteering to monitor the front and back drop off/pick up areas of our campus in the morning (7:30am - 8:00am) and after school (2:00pm - 2:30pm).  If you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact Mrs. Janel Uemori at 626-0940 extension 236.

Thank you again for your continued partnership in your child's education!

Mililani High School Homecoming Parade

On Friday, September 27, the Mililani 'Ike Student Council and HYPE participated in the Mililani High School Homecoming Parade.  All of the students were excited to show their school spirit and support our complex schools.  Thank you Mrs. Gaston and Mrs. Seatriz for providing this special opportunity for our students!

Parent Lunches

Thank you for all of your support.  We had much success with our Parent Lunches!  Our cafeteria was filled with cheerful chatter during each lunch session as our students enjoyed the company of their special guest.
Thank you to Janel, our PCNC, and her parent volunteers for organizing things and making the event run smoothly.
We appreciate all of your continued support.  We hope you enjoyed the day with your child.  Our cafeteria is filled to capacity on regular lunch days and that makes these days where we can invite our families for a school lunch precious.

Change in Friday's Lunch Menu

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be changing our lunch menu for Friday, October 4.  We will be serving Shoyu Hot Dog with Rice instead of Shoyu Chicken.
Thank you.

Keep Off Slopes and Hills

Hello Parents,
At our beautiful campus we have many hills and slopes that are on the edge of the Mililani 'Ike property.  Recently there have been many students that have been playing on the hills and running down them as well.  We do not want anyone to get hurt so please remind your children to keep off the hills to ensure that all students are safe on our school campus.

Thank you for your time and consideration to this matter

Parking Stalls

We have noticed that some parents have been parking their cars in the vacant area near the exit of our parking lot.  This area was previously occupied by our recycling bin.  When parents park in this area, children have been witnessed crossing on-coming traffic when traveling from their car to school grounds.  This poses a risk to our students' safety and well-being.  In addition, some vehicles that have been parking there are impeding traffic because their vehicles are too large to fit in the open area.  To rectify the safety concerns related to this issue, this area will now be turned into parallel parking stalls for staff use only.  For safety of all students, please do not use these stalls.

Thank you,

Ian Tanita
