Mililani 'Ike Continues to Provide a Comprehensive Educational Programthat Educates the Whole Child

Dear 'Ike Families,

Thank you very much for those of you who came to our first Principal Coffee Hour held on August 25.  At the Coffee Hour we shared our school's focus for the school year, "'Ike Pride! Make it a better place!" from the book, Only One You by Linda Kranz.  Our theme emphasizes the continued value Mililani 'Ike holds in providing a solid foundational educational program that focuses on growing the whole child.

At Mililani 'Ike we continue to ensure all students learn in a rigorous standards-based positive learning environment.  What does that look like?  All students are provided learning opportunities where they are expected to stretch their minds through learning new knowledge and taking risks to face challenges.  Through this experience and with support from our dedicated teachers, students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills to become independent learners.
All students at Mililani 'Ike receive educational opportunities in the following areas:

  • English Language Arts (ELA)
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Physical Education
  • Technology
  • Library Studies
  • Music
  • Art
  • Maker Space
  • Japanese
  • Hawaiian Studies
  • Character Education (Character Counts)
Along with the activities listed above that occur within the school day, we also have a wealth of after school learning opportunities such as:
  • Beginning and Advanced Orchestra
  • Chorus
  • Orff
  • HYPE - Dance and Flags
  • Cross Country
  • Track
  • Student Council
  • Robotics
  • National History Day (NHD)
  • Campus Police Officers (CPO)
  • Science Olympiad
  • Hui Na Lamaku - Library Club (held during the school day)
We appreciate all of your support in being an active partner in your child's education.  Many of our programs continue their success because of your support.  Please continue to have discussions with your child(ren) of what they learned during their day at school.  We look forward to another TRRFCC school year!

Stranger Danger Awareness

Aloha Mililani 'Ike Parents,

We are off to a terrific start to the new school year.  As we are three weeks into the new school year, we ask that you please review with your child the importance of "stranger danger" if they walk to and from school.  A community member reported seeing a child approached by a stranger in a black Dodge Charger in lower Mauka yesterday and drive away when the community member tried to investigate.  As good practice, please review with your child the following safety tips:

*Always walk with a partner or in a group
*Walk to school or to home (don't stop to talk story with friends)
*Never approach a stranger in a car or go with a stranger
*Always walk in a high-visibility area

We will also be discussing with all of our students about Stranger Danger Awareness in the cafeteria this week as they view a video about what to do when a stranger approaches them.

Thank you.
