New Afterschool Pickup Area and Procedures for 2014-2015

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year, 'Ike students and parents!

For the 2014-2015 school year, students should no longer be picked up in front of the office area, but instead wait in front of the cafeteria.  There will only be one lane for pick-up, so please have your child wait in front of the cafeteria.  If you do not see your child as you pass by the cafeteria, then please circle around the parking lot.  In addition, as you enter the 'Ike parking lot, cars will no longer be allowed to turn left since the flow will go strictly in front of the cafeteria.

Please review the following afterschool traffic map for picking up students.  Our afterschool monitors (wearing orange vests) will help with student pick-up this year to ensure the safety of our 'Ike students so please follow their directions.  We hope this plan will help ease afterschool congestion.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Changes to Breakfast Prices and Procedures

Hello Parents,
As we start off a new school year we have a few changes in the cafeteria.  The procedures for parents and Mililani Middle School students that are off track will change.  Parents and MMS off-track students will need to purchase a ticket to buy either breakfast, milk or both.  You can purchase your tickets on the right side of the cafeteria facing the kitchen.  After receiving your ticket you will go into the regular breakfast line and give your ticket to the cashier.   MMS students that are on-track do not need to purchase a ticket, they will have their meal cards scanned.

In addition, the price of milk will change to 60 cents from 50 cents.  MMS students that are off-track will also need to pay the adult breakfast price of $2.20.  On-track MMS students will pay their regular student price.

Summer School Enrichment Announcements

Welcome to the Mililani 'Ike Summer School Enrichment Program.  The first day of classes started on Thursday, June 5.  Here are some important announcements:

*  Please avoid the construction area near our play courts.  Work crews are doing scheduled maintenance on the fence surrounding the play surface, the roof and downspouts.  Yellow construction tape indicates the areas to avoid.  The back gate will be open to accommodate our families living on that side of our school.  Please walk outside of the taped off area.

*  The summer session hours are from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.  We ask that you not drop your children off before 7:30 am and pick up at 12:00 pm.  There is no adult supervision before and after summer school.  As an option, you can enroll your child in the YMCA's A+ before and/or after school care programs.  Please call 625-1040 for more information.

*  Student volunteers are required to make prior arrangements with a teacher they would like to work with.  The volunteers must also complete a volunteer form, which requires a parent and teacher signature.  Please sign in at the office and wear a nametag.

*  Adult volunteers - please make arrangements with the teacher you want to help.  Also, please sign in at the office and wear a volunteer nametag.

*  Student attendance - if your child will be absent, you do not have to call the school or attendance line daily.  If your child will miss school for more than 3 days in a row, please inform their teacher.
Please have your child in class by the start of our school day at 8:00 am.  The morning routine is very important, especially for our younger students.

Reminder - In observance of Kamehameha Day, there is no school or A+ coverage on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.

Tech Fun Run & Book Fair Challenge!

Today we held our very first Technology Fun Run!
We had a BLAST!

Thank you Students, Family and Friends for donating.  Our goal was $10,000 and we surpassed it with $15,500 and still counting!  Our PTO has generously added $10,000 to our total bringing our grand total to over $25,000! We will use this money to purchase laptops for our students.

Mahalo to our Administrators for supporting the event, Tracie Murao and the PTO, Janel Uemori and Parent Volunteers for making this possible.

A big mahalo to all our teachers, faculty and staff for going above and beyond to make this event great for our students.

This afternoon we were also treated to a Book Fair Challenge!  We surpassed our Book Fair collection goals and Mrs. Seatriz planned a wonderful Students vs. Teachers event!

Enjoy!
