The Hawaii School Bottle Cap Challenge came to a close on Monday, March 31, 2014. Each participating school had to submit their total weight online to the
Hawaii Kokua Foundation. There was a mad scramble by schools trying to get more official bags from the event's sponsor. In the end, we collected an unbelievable amount of caps. It's hard to imagine these small pieces of plastic accounting for so much unwanted trash. The students got a first hand view of how very important recycling is - especially on an island with limited capacity for trash.
The winner of the challenge will be announced on
